Storage Process

1. Collection of Mother’s blood specimen before Delivery

The mother’s blood specimen is tested for various infectious diseases. This is a necessary step to ensure that the cord blood collected is free from any infectious disease and safe for future transplant.

2. Giving birth to your baby

Immediately after the birth of the baby, the umbilical cord is double clamped. After securing good care of the baby, the extra blood from the placental side of Umbilical cord is collected using the specific procedure under aseptic conditions. This painless process will require about 2-5 minutes.

3. Ensuring no contamination

The Doctors will use an iodine swab stick to clean the umbilical cord before puncturing and collecting the cord blood. This will minimize the danger of bacterial contamination of the collected cord blood.

4. Collecting your baby’s cord blood

The collection bag needle is carefully inserted into the umbilical vein cord and the cord blood flows into the blood bag. The Doctor will attempt to collect as much blood as possible.

5. Securing the blood bag

The blood bag tube is clamped and tied to prevent any leakage and ensuring there will be no wastage.

6. Finishing touches before storage

The Doctor will gently shake the collection bag back and forth to ensure the cord blood and anti-coagulant are well mixed.
