You’re pregnant, flustered and tired all the time. Absentmindedness follows once in a while. Baby’s kicking is keeping you up all night. You can hardly get any work done with the mixture of lethargy and annoyance at the world. Hormones’ up. Mood down. Cravings’ on an all-time high but your appetite isn’t. Don’t worry. We have the solution to calm things down and help your get through the day with as much serenity as possible. All you have to do is take about 30mins to an hour of your day, find a quiet place, be at ease and let us do the guidance. As per the title, you already know we are going to cover the topic of meditation for mummies. Well, sit back, relax and take a quick read. For you’re going to be introduced to a state of constant tranquility once you’re done with reading what we have in store for you.

First off, let’s get into the whys of things. Why should you do meditation whilst being pregnant? Well, given that meditation on its own has a pretty good track record, the question here is, why aren’t you doing it? Research has shown that women who practice mindfulness during their pregnancy enjoy decreased anxiety and depression levels as compared to those who don’t. What’s there to lose with the increase in serotonin level, right? As we know, a buildup of stress and anxiety during pregnancy is inevitable. This is in no way beneficial to mummy, baby and spouse. Hence, it’s not too late to start.

Now, let’s get into the benefits of meditation. As mentioned above, relaxation is the key focus of meditation. With that aside, you will also be enjoying the perks of having a positive outlook on things. A happy mummy & baby creates a happier environment! Think of the uninterrupted sleep you’ll be getting or the ability to get through a day at ease. Prior to all this, much time spent alone meditating also allows you to be more in tune with your body thus, enabling you to be aware of your baby’s needs as well. Isn’t all this comforting to hear?

But, wait! There’s more. Being pregnant, it’s very easy to be caught up in the endless loop of listening to possible worst-case scenarios. Step one of it all is to ignore the negativity around you and focus on the positives. Also, it has been mentioned by mothers that the most helpful aspect of meditation is noticing and even enjoying the gap between contractions. Hence, body awareness is also one of the few things to be enjoyed whilst partaking in meditation during pregnancy. Talk about at following your gut feeling.

There you have it, the pros of taking up meditation whilst being pregnant. P.s. if you’re looking to get a peace of mind and have no means as to how to do it, grab your spouse and head on down to Cryoviva’s ‘Mamaste’—Pre-natal yoga class for couples.
