The umbilical cord is the lifeline between mother and child.
The umbilical cord tissue contains stem cells with unique properties which come from the time of the early development of the child.
It has got multiple types of specialized cells from the early development of the baby. The tissue is composed of epithelial and endothelial stem cells, and those found in abundance and the most important are Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs). Several ongoing studies have proved that these stem cells in the cord tissue have the unique ability to transform into specialized tissue and has the potential for cellular therapy for the regeneration and repair of diseased organs and tissues of the body.
